2016 Lessons in Leadership

Craig Thompson, President and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was the keynote speaker for the Lasker Lessons in Leadership talk on March 31. He discussed leadership strategies, and the difference between leadership and management. The talk was followed by a mentor panel discussion that included Craig Thompson, John Niederhuber, Christina Annunziata and Marshall Fordyce.

The lecture took place on the NIH main campus in Bethesda, and was the second talk of the 2016 Lasker Lessons in Leadership program. The lectures are developed in collaboration with the International Biomedical Research Alliance and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program. 

In the afternoon, Thompson, who is a leader in the fields of cancer biology and immunology, gave a scientific talk titled "Linking Oncogenes to Metabolism: The Ras Story."

The next Lasker Lessons in Leadership talk will be given by Lasker Juror Jeremy Nathans, Professor in the Departments of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neuroscience, and Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The event will take place on November 9, 2016, on the NIH main campus and will be available to the public via free live webcast.
