Physicians, patients, and staff at the research hospital of the National Institutes of Health joined NIH Director Francis Collins, and the Director of the Clinical Center, John Gallin, to commemorate the 2011 Lasker~Bloomberg Pubic Service Award, which was given to the Clinical Center for providing innovative therapy and high-quality patient care, treating rare and severe diseases, and producing outstanding physician-scientists whose collective work has set a standard of excellence in biomedical research.
