British Heart Foundation: funds disease research, emergency training, prevention and treatment education, provides medical equipment and patient support. The BHF offers a glossary of heart-related terms, patient information on prevention and treatment, press releases and links to related sites.

European Society of Cardiology: website provides information on education and fellowships, ESC publications, Cardiology congresses, the European Heart House and links to related sites.

Heart Information Network: founded by James Rader, heart patient and physician, provides prevention and risk information for patients. The site also provides information on medications, treatments, organizations and publications related to heart disease and prevention.

International Society for Heart Research: (ISHR) provides a free online Society newsletter (Heart News and Views) that is available for current and past issue searches. The ISHR homepage also offers a links and information to the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, the Society's official journal, as well as Handbook of Experimental Laboratory Procedures (H.E.L.P.) articles, the ISHR message board and Society meetings.

Mayo Clinic Heart Center: with several other health centers, provides news, heart information and articles, links to related organizations as well as "Ask the Mayo Physician", a source of patient answers and education.

National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute: NHLBI, one of the national institutes of health, supports basic and clinical research as well as education on, among other things, causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment heart diseases. It also funds and supports related clinical trials, conducted through the Institute. The NHLBI website provides health and scientific resources, news, events, and current clinical trials and studies information.

National Institutes of Health: NIH is made up of over twenty institutes, centers and offices, and supports, funds and facilitates health-related research. The NIH website has links to all institutes and centers, news, events, scientific resources and information on NIH research clinical trials and publications.

Society of Thoracic Surgeons: aside from posting STS news and events, provides patient categorized links to organizations, a glossary of heart and surgical terms, and information on several procedures and surgeries. The STS homepage also has a link to the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, a monthly journal published for the Society.

Surgeon's General Library (The Virtual Library of the Surgeon General): provides visitors with news and press releases, Surgeon General history, reports and publications and links to patient and professional information via The Public Health Service and Department of Health and Human Services agencies.

Tulane Medical School (Tulane School of Medicine)—their homepage includes sections for students, patients (at Tulane Medical Center), bioscientists and clinicians, and a search engine which covers the Tulane directory, the School of Medicine, or directs the user to medical or general web search engines.

World Heart Federation: aims to promote and support cardiological disease research, and assist organizations, societies and foundations with programs in the field of heart research. The website has links to WHF publications such as CDV Prevention Journal, HeartBeat (World Heart Federation bulletin) and WhiteBook, as well as information on meetings, congresses, webcasts, a forum for cardiovascular disease prevention and links to related sites.
