Albert Lasker
Basic Medical Research Award
It's a great honor for Dr. McCulloch and myself to receive a Lasker Award. I recall with pleasure the initiation of our collaborative research in the early 1960s. I also remember how exciting it was to see the first evidence of what turned out to be multipotent stem cells of the blood-forming system. We knew at the time that we had become involved in something very interesting. But, we definitely didn't anticipate that our work might continue to be of some interest so many years later. I'm grateful for the very good luck that led to our entry into the stem cell field, and thus, to our receipt of this Award.
Thank you very much.
